Elgin County Transportation Master Plan
The County of Elgin is developing a Transportation Master Plan (TMP). The TMP is the first comprehensive master planning exercise for the County’s transportation network and will be coordinated with the County’s ongoing Official Plan update. This Plan will be designed to look at "the big picture", identifying challenges, alternatives, steps and actions to take the County of Elgin from where we are today, to the multi-modal transportation network and landscape we envision for our future.
The Plan will span 30 years and will focus on the development of an integrated vehicular transportation network, the enhancement of active transportation amenities (cycling), and will explore transit options for Elgin's communities.
Please note: Due to several regional developments and the unknown impacts on the County road network, the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) has currently been put on hold. This Project will be re-instated in 2024. Please stay tuned for more details.

Ron McNeil / 73 needs a light
Highbury ave from st Thomas to London needs lights at several cross roads to London. It’s a Speedway
Belmont road in Belmont needs a light
Ron McNeil & Ford Rd through Talbot Line needs to be a round about
Intersection in Talbotville Sunset & Hwy 3 Talbotline needs to be three lanes (right hand turning lane) once the new subdivisions are completed this area is going to be a disaster. So much traffic already going through there.
Roundabout at Ron McNeil and Burwell Rd would keep flow of rush hour traffic and reduce noise from all the motorcycles and muscle cars that come off of Burwell Rd onto Ron McNeil. We constantly hear drivers on RM honking at drivers that have pulled onto RM from Burwell because they made a rush turn. One person has died at the intersection that I know of.
Wellington/crescent/lynhurst park drive
Traffic lights at Talbotville Gore Rd and Sunset (southern intersection)
1. Yarmouth Center at no. 3 Highway.
2. Water runoff troughs on 52 at Kettle creek very hard to move farm machinery though.
3. Railway track crossing at Shorelee Line.
4. Mapleton Line at Highbury.
Intersections:

Roads:
-John St N should have 3 lane cross section. Too wide.
-great potential for bike lanes on all county roads. Can use a wider paved shoulder for cycling
Mapleton Line and Highbury Ave.
All the new construction and inhabitants of East Road have made for very treacherous walking. The area is being used by more and more pedestrians who are forced to walk very close to car traffic. Sidewalks are needed.
Currie Boulevard & Harrison Place in Port Stanley needs a sidewalk to ensure safety for pedestrians.
I had the misfortune of seeing a good friend go down and crash on Richmond Bridge. I almost went down myself and crashed while cycling. When waiting for the ambulance a resident who was close by walked over and began to talk about how this was the third crash since the bridge was installed. This was three years ago. The bridge is unsafe and something needs to be done!
There is a theme here... The Richmond bridge. Been across it several times on a bike... Scary. People have been hurt and more will be.
Richmond Road Bridge, a close friend got severely injured here when it was a bit damp.
Phillmore Bridge in Richmond. several cyclists have crashed on this bridge due to it's slippery surface.
Richmond Road Bridge given the number of incidents that have happened since it was changed to the steel grater surface. How many more injuries need to happen before something is done?
Richmond Rd bridge. If you can name another bridge that has sent this many people to the hospital I’ll be impressed.
Phillmore Bridge in Richmond. I personally know several cyclists that have crashed on this bridge due to it's slippery surface and sustained serious injuries requiring hospitalization and reconstructive surgery.
Just one? Richmond Road bridge…aka the “cheesegrater”. Any newly paved road without a decent shoulder (ie Sparta Line near Yarmouth)….

Even as an experienced cyclist, I’ve almost wiped out on the steel bridge thanks to morning dew making it feel like an ice rink.
Even the addition of side lanes for cyclists that’s not the slippery steel would be beneficial.
