The County of Elgin is developing a Transportation Master Plan (TMP). The TMP is the first comprehensive master planning exercise for the County’s transportation network and will be coordinated with the County’s ongoing Official Plan update. This Plan will be designed to look at "the big picture", identifying challenges, alternatives, steps and actions to take the County of Elgin from where we are today, to the multi-modal transportation network and landscape we envision for our future.

The Plan will span 30 years and will focus on the development of an integrated vehicular transportation network, the enhancement of active transportation amenities (cycling), and will explore transit options for Elgin's communities.

Please note: Due to several regional developments and the unknown impacts on the County road network, the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) has currently been put on hold. This Project will be re-instated in 2024. Please stay tuned for more details.

What would encourage you to use a public passenger transportation service?

If a public passenger transportation service were to be provided in Elgin County that could take you where you need to go (i.e. a bus route or on-demand service), what would be the most important factors to encourage you to use the service?

Talbot Grove Lane and Talbotville Gore.
Sunset rd and the south entrance to Talbotville Gore. Both very dangerous. Half of the population in Southwold will be in Talbotville once development complete and the increase in traffic needs to be handled.

1. Peach Tree Blvd and Raven Ave. It is a major intersection for children walking to Mitchell Hepburn. Safety enhancements need to occur at this intersection. Drivers speed in this area and a lot do not stop properly at the 4 way stop.

2. Centennial Rd and Elm St. This is such an awkward intersection and an accident is just waiting to happen. This would be ideal spot for a roundabout.

Intersection on Pioneer line and Graham in West Lorne needs stop lights , too many people inch out further and further to see if anything is coming and inch out too far..or bigger bolder stop signs and overhead in intersection signs on Graham Rd for Stopping

Main intersection in Shedden---Talbot LIne and Union road needs a stop light----have previously been accidents there and with more population in the village and fire trucks needing to cross

Springfield Rd & Talbot Line needs a roundabout as well as Ron McNeil & Imperial Rd. Vehicles are always using the right turn lanes to go around people turning left.

Edgeware Line and Yarmouth Centre Road
WB on Edgeware Line has a large tree that creates a blind spot at the stop sign. I also see people blow the stop signs on EL, and when heading south on Yarmouth, you can't see EL bc of the treeline and crops in the fields (to watch for cars coming).

A cross walk needs to be installed either at Ford Rd and Wellington or McBain and Wellington way to may kids try and cross with no traffic control measures

What intersection(s) in Elgin County do you feel safety enhancements may be required?
• Imperial & Ron McNeil Line has too many accidents. Roundabouts are much safer, and this might be a good location for one.

What location(s) do you feel a formal pedestrian crossing should be considered?
• John St. North in Aylmer (particularly around Spruce St.) needs at least 1 more safe way to cross. This road is wide and full of vehicles, and it could definitely benefit from pedestrian crossings and/or pedestrian islands.

Ford Rd and Wellington Rd S. needs a crosswalk for kids to cross Wellington Rd.
Very dangerous and accident waiting to happen.

Need a traffic light at John Wise Line and Imperial Road. I realize you have done a study? When? We need a light as I have had to wait for 10 minutes to turn north off John Wise from the west side. People try to wave you through but.... not the rules of the road as they have right of way to go straight thru to the west. Then you get people who honk behind you as they are trying to get you to turn left when you DONT have the right of way!

On Plank Road between Vienna and Straffordville in front of the Sunshine restaurant and church/school the speed limit goes from 80km then drops down to 40km. I feel there should be flashing lights when school is in THEN the speed limit drops, not all the time. Saturday, Sunday, evenings there is no school

2 Intersections need safety enhancements

- Ron McNeil/Imperial Road
-Avon Drive/Putnam road

I also think the next time Putnam road gets resurfaced it should be widened a bit and the shoulders be done with recycled asphalt like how Lyons line was done when it was resurfaced a couple years ago. Trucks and cars are always constantly slipping off the edge of Putnam road creating large gutters on the edges of the roads

The new open grid metal bridges such as the one on Edison Rd. Vienna is dangerous to walk on. Impossible for animals (deer, dogs etc) to navigate. It needs to be modified to allow pedestrian traffic. Someone with a cane could not navigate it. It's impossible to walk a dog across the bridge. It limits health and wellness benefits for those who like to go for walks.

Lyons Line and Imperial Road

Crosswalk at Ron McNeil and Whittaker so the kids dont have to go all the way down to the school to cross. Also, the post office is on this corner and people are always having a hard time crossing to get to it.

Intersection of Imperial Road and Ron McNeil

Longwoods road and graham road. Flashing light required for evening. It is so dark we have missed the turn. Please consider before someone gets hurt

Ron Mcneil and Belmont road (74). There is currently a 2 way stop sign for Ron Mcneil with stop sign ahead signs on both sides. Belmont road/74 is a 80km/hr at that intersection. There is a critical motor vehicle accident approx every 2-3 weeks at that intersection. Enhanced safety lights/signs/changes are needed here.

Talbot Line and Union Road. With the post office and street parking allowed, many vehicles on union road stop past the stop bar to have visibility on Talbot Line which causes pedestrian and vehicular safety concerns. Removing some street parking and encouraging parking in the post office lane way can help with this visibility.
