The County of Elgin is developing a Transportation Master Plan (TMP). The TMP is the first comprehensive master planning exercise for the County’s transportation network and will be coordinated with the County’s ongoing Official Plan update. This Plan will be designed to look at "the big picture", identifying challenges, alternatives, steps and actions to take the County of Elgin from where we are today, to the multi-modal transportation network and landscape we envision for our future.

The Plan will span 30 years and will focus on the development of an integrated vehicular transportation network, the enhancement of active transportation amenities (cycling), and will explore transit options for Elgin's communities.

Please note: Due to several regional developments and the unknown impacts on the County road network, the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) has currently been put on hold. This Project will be re-instated in 2024. Please stay tuned for more details.

What would encourage you to use a public passenger transportation service?

If a public passenger transportation service were to be provided in Elgin County that could take you where you need to go (i.e. a bus route or on-demand service), what would be the most important factors to encourage you to use the service?

Whilr Roundabouts are not so common in Canada - Ontario, they have been a huge success in Europe and other countries world wide. Public education of proper use can go a long way to being successful. I strongly support use of Roundabouts.

Meant Centennial and Hwy 3.

Hwy 3 at Elm in St Thomas. This intersection has always been dangerous.
Roundabouts in general are smooth and efficient. Best ones I've ever used, Washington State, SR539 just south of the BC border, highway speeds. Feel so much safer than a regular intersection and so much faster than lights. Wish all intersections were roundabouts!

Belmont Rd & Ron McNeil Line. The stop signs on Belmont Rd need to be flashing lights or at the very least some "prepare to stop" signs need to be put in ahead of the actual stop. Everytime I drive through this intersection (on Ron McNeil) I hold my breath that today isn't the day someone blows through the stop.

The intersection of Ron McNeil & Dalewood…..and then Ron McNeil all the way to Highbury-drop the speed!

The corner of William and George in port stanley needs a 4 way stop as well as a hidden intersection sign by mac's milk-for the north end of William exiting onto George as well as some enforcement on the speed.

Speed limit through Belmont reduced. Too many trucks and other vehicles speeding through town. Should be a 40 km zone until after the tracks.

John Wise Line & Quaker Road
Highway 3 and Quaker Road
Both intersections need roundabouts, don’t stop the flow of traffic but slow it down

Wallacetown, intersection of Currie and #3 . Hard to see past parked vehicles at gas station. When used as a detour route from 401 it is extremely dangerous.

The intersection of Centennial and Elm--the offset of Centennial at this intersection makes it a bit challenging, I find. More than once while travelling on Elm (mostly on a bicycle, and occasionally in a car), I have had to do some heavy braking because motorists who stopped at Centennial have proceeded into the intersection without looking both ways and assume they can make the "turn" to continue on Centennial without looking. In my opinion, this is the most dangerous intersection in the area. Traffic signals, or maybe if there is room an offset--oval?--traffic circle could make this safer?

1. Heritage Line and Culloden Rd. - curve on Heritage east of the intersection makes it impossible to see oncoming traffic when leaving Culloden - maybe flashing lights at the intersection to slow traffic on Heritage
2. Plank Rd and Heritage Line. The odd angle of the intersection and parking on Plank Rd. make it impossible to see without pulling out at an odd angle on Heritage. Cars from south often turn left behind traffic on Heritage waiting to enter making an extremely dangerous situation. Two store parking lot entrances with high traffic volumes right at this intersection don't help. There have been numerous accidents here over the years and both traffic lights and a crosswalk for pedestrians are needed.
3. Calton Line and Richmond Rd is also a very blind intersection when coming from south on Richmond especially. Traffic is often well above speed limits on Calton Line. Traffic calming measures may help.

Intersection in west Lorne - graham and pioneer - remove parked cars along the sides of the road coming in from Rodney and people at the stop sign would be able to see incoming traffic. Cars parked along pioneer block the visual for people stopped on graham. Problem solved for the drivers.. inconvenient for store front parking… choose to battle!

Belmont Rd and Ron McNeil another accident this morning. Many accidents at this intersection people go right through stop sign. Someone is going to be or already have been seriously hurt there.
