July 24, 2026 - Update

We are providing an update on the Village of Fingal Reconstruction Project regarding the upcoming work at the Fowler Drain crossing on Union Road.

The work to replace the Fowler Drain crossing (8146 Union Road), originally scheduled to begin on July 20, has been delayed due to the presence of migratory birds. Additional protective fencing must be installed, and nearby nesting areas must be reviewed before construction can begin.

Upcoming Work

Work is now expected to begin next week and will require a temporary full closure of Union Road at the Fowler Drain crossing (8146 Union Road) to allow crews to install a new concrete culvert. The culvert installation is expected to take approximately two to three weeks, depending on weather, site conditions, construction progress, and conditions within the existing creek.

Access Impacts

Union Road remains closed to all traffic within the construction area. Access to properties will be temporarily restricted while crews are working directly in front of residences.

Lanark Street will remain accessible for residents living north of the closure on Union Road to provide local access within the construction area.

Residents are asked to follow posted signage and use the signed detour during the closure.
