July 10, 2026 - Update
We are providing an update on the Village of Fingal Reconstruction Project, including important information about upcoming road closures along Union Road.
Sanitary sewer installation continues south of the future pump station along Union Road toward Fingal Line. Crews are currently focused on underground servicing, with work progressing through the Village.
Over the coming weeks, three locations along Union Road will require temporary full closures to complete sanitary sewer installations and the construction of a new concrete culvert crossing. Timelines are tentative and may change due to weather and site conditions.
Union Road Closure Updates
Union Road at Lanark Street
Starting Monday, July 13, Union Road will be fully closed at Lanark Street for approximately two days while crews install sanitary sewers from Union Road east along Lanark Street for future servicing.
During this closure, through traffic, including EMS access, will not be available during the full closures, EMS will have to utilize the posted detours. Residents north of Lanark Street should access the area from the north via Union Road, while residents south of Lanark Street should use Fingal Line.
Union Road at Fowler Street
Tentatively beginning Wednesday, July 15, Union Road will be fully closed at Fowler Street while crews install sanitary sewers west along Fowler Street. This work is expected to continue through Friday.
Residents north of Fowler Street will continue to have access via Union Road or Lanark Street.
Union Road at Fowler Drain (8146 Union Road)
Starting Monday, July 20, Union Road will be fully closed at the Fowler Drain to accommodate the installation of a new concrete culvert crossing. Culvert installation is expected to take two to three weeks, depending on weather, site conditions, and existing creek conditions.
Access Impacts
Union Road remains closed to all non-local or essential traffic within the construction area during active work. Access to properties may be temporarily restricted while crews are working directly in front of residences.
Local access will be maintained where possible. Residents are asked to follow posted signage and use alternate routes during closure periods.
